Introduction
China-ASEAN Forum for Cooperation in Human Resource Development, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Personnel of P. R. China and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, P.R. China, will be held in Mingyuan Xindu Hotel of Nanning, China from Nov. 7 to 8, 2007.
The Fifth ASEAN-China Summit decided that an ASEAN-China Free Trade Area should be established within 10 years, and made human resource development one of the five priority areas of cooperation. The Commemorative Summit Marking the 15th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations held in Nanning in 2006 further emphasized the necessity to enhance the China-ASEAN strategic partnership and to strengthen cooperation in ten priority areas including human resource development. Currently, the exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN in the field of human resources have been staged, and this forum is designed for the delegates to widely exchange HRD views and experience. After the forum, “Essays on China-ASEAN Cooperation in HRD” will be published. Moreover, the Forum will hold a consultation and formulate working documents on China-ASEAN cooperation in HRD, so as to lay foundation for establishing effectively and stably cooperative relationship and for the next cooperative activities.
This forum will bring together government officials, experts on human resource development, well-known entrepreneurs from China and ASEAN member countries, and representatives from relevant international organizations to share their experience and research findings of human resource management and development. Moreover, the government officials will hold a consultation on establishing long-term cooperation mechanism.
